Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a healthy saturated fat (yes I said HEALTHY FAT). Most vegetable oils contain LCTs (longer chain triglycerides) which the body stores as fat. Coconut oil contains MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) which the body uses to burn for energy. MCTs promote THERMOGENESIS which can help increase your metabolism.

-Eating fat can actually leave you feeling fuller longer and eating fat first thing in the morning has been proven to help you burn fat throughout the day, giving you more energy.
Don't Fear The Fat!

Coconut oil is great to cook with because it doesn't burn as fast other oils do in high heat.  It's great way to "fry" food, replace butter and other oils for baking, and it has several homeopathic uses due to it's antibacterial, anti-fungal, and immune-boosting properties.

How do you start your day with fat?

These are my favorite ways to get my fat in the morning, they're easy and yummy.
-1 cup of coffee, 1tbsp coconut oil, 1tbsp grass-fed butter.  Blend the ingredients together and you have one amazing cup of coffee, not only is it full of healthy fat, but it's also going to give you a great boost of energy for your day, and because it tastes creamy and sweet, you don't need to add milk and sugar.
-3-4 slices of grapefruit with 1tbsp coconut oil.  Grapefruit is a fat burner on its own, adding the coconut oil will not only make the grapefruit sweeter, but again you're starting your day with healthy fat and a great boost of energy.
-Or super simple, 1tbsp of coconut oil by itself if you don't have a problem with swallowing a tbsp of oil 

Where can you buy it?
Due to the growing popularity of coconut oil it can be found at any local grocery store now.  It is best to buy unrefined virgin coconut oil.  Refined oil has been bleached and deodorized and has had the flavor of the oil removed.  Costco carries a very large tub of unrefined virgin coconut oil.  We use it for coffee, food, hair, face, and body.
